The Fear of Walking/Sitting Through a Storm
Apr 03, 2025I will be the first to attest to the fact that I have always been in awe of tornadoes but also terrified of them. When I was a little boy, I remember sleeping through them. I also remember watching the sky turn dark because of the storm coming through the area. I have watched movies and videos about them.
On this past Monday morning about half past Midnight, I sat in concern and prayed as my family and I gathered in the “clawselet” (my baby girl’s way of saying closet) and watched this video from our doorbell camera. About 1:30mins into the video, you can see the rotation of the storm as it briskly glided down the street. Just look at the street lights. The “ping” that you hear a little later in the video is my wife’s glass flower vase that fell off a table and onto the front porch. Amazingly, it did NOT break or even crack.
This has had a metaphorical meaning for the mental state of mind that I have endured this week. As I was writing this, we were preparing for more severe weather. However, I can’t help but praise El Roi for watching over us as this storm literally walked by us.
