A Love Letter to My Wife: Celebrating the Woman Who Completes Me
Apr 24, 2025
Let me tell you about a special person in my life. I met her when she was 19yrs old. I will never forget the first blind date we went on. She introduced me to Bourbon Chicken from the mall’s food court. She insisted that she was not going to allow me to pay for her meal.
I thought the date was a success. Little did I know at the time, this young woman could not stand my guts. She thought I was a tall well melanated brutha based on my voice. Well, she met a short husky brutha who has a caramel complexion. I had my Steve Urkel season while chasing after her for (6) months before she decided to give a relationship a try.
That was almost (22) years ago. We have been married for almost (17) of those years. I have to say, this Black Woman has been a great addition to my life. She may think that I don’t listen to her. Oh, if she only knew how many decisions I have made and not made in life because of her… The way of life that she has introduced me to has been very beneficial. She has been a patient, caring, and loving wife. She has been an amazing mother. In these later years, we have laughed about the physical “joys” of getting older. 🤣 I wish that I could fully express the love I have for her in the exact dialect that she needs to hear. I wish that the fullness of my love was always translated into the tongue of her soul. I am saying this through my words on this blog post that my wife has had so much of an influence on me becoming who I am.
Tiffany, if you are reading this (and I hope you are), I want you to know that I understand that I am flawed. I know I make boneheaded decisions from time to time. I know that I am not the best at choreographing my internal feelings to my external actions. Many times my thoughts don’t translate from the cerebral cortex to my phalanges. But I want you to know that I love you more than any person in this world. You are an awesome person. I love doing life with you. I absolutely despise the timing of this message because of you dealing with the passing of Mr. Harvey. But it is always a great time for us to express our love and appreciation for our loved ones. I know this week has not been the best for you. However, I want you to know that “Robbie” (your Sweet Potato 🍠) still loves “Purdy” (my Juicy Fruit)! 😉😘
